What the Extension Does
The Two Cents Club browser extension helps you earn rewards on travel bookings. It detects when you visit a supported travel booking site and displays a small banner offering to activate rewards. When you click activate, the extension redirects your booking through our affiliate partner so you earn rewards on your travel purchase.
The extension only operates on the following supported sites:
- Booking.com
- Expedia (and regional variants)
- VRBO (Coming Soon)
- Hotels.com (Coming Soon)
- Agoda (Coming Soon)
- Airbnb (Coming Soon)
Data We Collect
When you use the extension while signed in to your Two Cents Club account, we collect:
- Page URLs on supported sites — only when you click "Activate Rewards." We use this to generate the affiliate link for your booking.
- Activation events — banner_shown, banner_dismissed, activate_clicked, and activation_completed. These help us measure how the extension is performing.
- Technical diagnostics — inline_selector_failed and adblocker_detected events help us detect and fix issues that prevent rewards from working.
- Browser type and extension version — collected with the install event so we can prioritize browser-specific fixes.
- Session cookie — we read the Two Cents Club session cookie (on 2cents.club only) to detect whether you are signed in. We do not read or access any other cookies.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Browsing activity on non-supported websites
- Personal information beyond what you provide during Two Cents Club account registration
- Booking details, payment information, or travel dates
- Browsing history or search queries
- Data from any page where the extension does not inject its interface
- Cookies or data from any site other than 2cents.club
How We Use Your Data
- Rewards enablement: URL data is used solely to generate affiliate links through our partner (Stay22) so you earn commission-based rewards.
- Performance measurement: Activation events help us understand how many users see the banner, how many activate, and which travel sites convert best.
- Error detection: Selector failure and ad blocker events help us maintain extension functionality when travel sites change their page layouts.
Your data is never sold to third parties. Your data is never used for advertising or profiling.
Data Retention
- Extension events: retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
- Account data: retained while your account is active. Deleting your account removes all associated data.
- Session cookies: managed by your browser. Cleared when you log out or clear browser cookies.
Browser Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following permissions, each for a specific purpose:
cookies— reads the Two Cents Club session cookie on 2cents.club to detect whether you are signed in. No third-party cookie access.activeTab— accesses the current tab URL when you click the activate button, so the extension knows which booking page to activate rewards for. Only triggered by your action.- Content scripts on supported travel sites — injects the rewards activation banner and inline badges on Booking.com, Expedia, and other supported sites only. Does not run on any other websites.
storage— stores your extension preferences (such as excluded sites) locally on your device. This data stays on your computer and is not sent to our servers.alarms— enables the extension to run periodic background tasks locally, such as syncing updated lists of supported travel partners or flushing telemetry.
Third-Party Services
When you activate rewards, your booking is redirected through Stay22, our affiliate partner. Stay22 processes the affiliate link to enable commission tracking. Stay22's privacy policy is available on their website. We do not share your personal information with Stay22 — only the booking URL is passed through the redirect.
Google Chrome Web Store Compliance
Our extension's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
